Lady Lucia Update (February Edition!)
Hello, readers--
I'm guessing you're all having a better start to your February than I am! After a series of flight delays, I’m finally home and gradually settling back into real life after a long weekend. Already posted this update on my SubscribeStar, but I’ll share my announcements here as well.
Let’s jump right in:
Story Updates
The Presentation will be concluding this month. I ended up writing more than I expected in the middle of the story, which is why it didn't wrap up in January like I first projected. The outline is more or less the same, and it will still remain a short story. I'll be posting the next installment on Tuesday, February 10th.
Raven's Fall will also be concluding this month. The next chapter will be later this week, and there will either be one or two chapters after that depending on how things play out as I write through the ending. Thank you again to Jillybeann for the commission!
The Housekeeper is going to be on hiatus as of the chapter I'll be posting this month. I haven't heard back from Ethan in terms of what he'd like moving forward, but I'll potentially be opening that story up for someone to take over like I've done for previous instances of incomplete commissions. In the meantime, I’m going to delete the (Coming Soon) post from my site and delay the temporarily ‘last chapter’ so I can adjust the end to something that works well for a break.
Website Additions
I can't remember who recommended this in the previous update, but I liked the idea of collecting the story highlights I've been posting for a few months now and linking them on my site like I've done with other stories, forums, and blogs. I'll be tackling that soon, and will ideally have it done before March's update.
Website/SubscribeStar Posting
Speaking of reader suggestions, I'm going to try something new this month and see how it feels. Whenever I consolidate an ongoing story, which is typically every five parts/chapters, I'll also post the most recent installment by itself at the same time.
There are a couple of reasons that I consolidate. For starters, I like the Table of Contents to look neat and tidy, rather than having an excessive amount of links for my longer stories. And for both new and returning readers, I want to make it easy to access my older works without needing to go through all those separate pages.
At the same time, I totally get how current readers following a story don't want to scroll through all the content they've read, especially on mobile. Hopefully this will split the difference, at the cost of double the posts on the rare occasion.
As always, I'm open to feedback along the way.
Story Highlight
This one doubles as a teaser for something I'll be posting later this month.
Down to Size Dinner, by Nicegent42, is a recent AR story he's been writing. Always fun to see a bratty boss be taken down a peg.
For those that enjoy other mediums, he also posts art and comics in a few genres that overlap with my own. All of that can be found on the DeviantArt profile of the above link.
As for the teaser, I'll be editing this particular work over the next 1-2 months and posting it on my site. While the story will remain the same, purely written by Nicegent42, I'll be doing all the editing, formatting, etc. The cross-posting is part of our collaboration arrangement, on the small chance something happens to his Deviantart profile. As we all know, some of these genres end up being tricky as various platforms get more sensitive about their content.
In the meantime, you're all welcome to check out the original version!
Conclusion
Well, I guess I had a bit more to share than I anticipated. Thank you all for bearing with me as I adjust to the new writing schedule I described at the start of the year, and as I work on everything I just mentioned above.
One last teaser for you--I'm currently drafting another short story that I'll be posting at the beginning of March (on SubscribeStar), most likely on the 5th. Stay tuned.
Have a great month, happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate!
Much love,
Lady Lucia
